James Gunn is an eccentric one who saw something in
John Cena that many others failed to. And that is probably why he chose the wrestling star to be the lead character in his DC Comics show, Peacemaker. The show, as well as Cena, had a pretty great season one to start the story of the anti-hero, and now Gunn says he is ready with season 2. Seems like Cena will be taking a detour from the squared circle for the premiere of his show's second season.
John Cena's career trajectory from wrestling to acting and vice versa
John Cena is currently on his WWE farewell tour and was last seen during the Men's Royal Rumble, where he lost at the very end to Jey Uso. And now he is the only one to participate in the
Elimination Chamber without qualifying for it. His stardom has paved the way for him so far this year, but the question is, how long can that continue?
Cena is currently sitting on sixteen championship wins, with a seventeenth on the horizon. But will he be able to achieve the dream and say goodbye to the squared circle for good with a championship belt wrapped around his middle? Well, it's not impossible. And if anyone can do it, it's the Cenation Leader. But other than his WWE aspirations, Cena is also involved with the DC Studios, and his show,
Peacemaker, is all ready to premiere its second season this August. A lot of us have been looking forward to this, and can't wait to see what comes next.
James Gunn talks about Peacemaker and John Cena
After the character’s silver screen debut in the movie
The Suicide Squad back in 2021,
John Cena has become a name synonymous with not just the world of wrestling but also acting. In some ways, it is director James Gunn we all should be thanking for bringing Peacemaker to life with the face of John Cena leading the charge.
Speaking about the upcoming season, Gunn said in a press event:
“Peacemaker is all done. I am deep in editing with that at the same time I’m doing Superman. It’s been really fun.”He further added about Cena and how he has improved so far in terms of acting and what he brings to the table.
“I think he surprised people a lot in the first season with what he was able to do performance-wise. And the guy grew exponentially in season two. And he’s really incredible, as is the whole cast.”Cena is an extraordinary human being, who is talented both in and outside the ring. This year may be his farewell tour in terms of WWE, but there is a lot more for us to see.
