Alleged GTA 6 dev leak details dynamic NPC behavior and event crowds

A Reddit post from a now-deleted burner account, published on April 19, 2025, claims to share insider details about the development of Grand Theft Auto VI. The user indicated they worked on the game for a short time and left comments on character and world development. Even though the allegations are still unsubstantiated, they have generated a lot of interest throughout gaming communities and news outlets especially because Rockstar has been quiet since the initial trailer.


As per the supposed insider, GTA 6 will have extremely dynamic non-playable characters (NPCs) that change their presence and behavior depending on time and what is happening in the game. The post states the character population density for areas such as beaches and city centers will change during the week, more crowded on weekends and less crowded on weekdays. Tourists and other day-specific or hour-specific NPCs will allegedly only spawn on certain days or time frames.
Certain characters are reported to have outfit and behavior changes based on the day of the week. For example, NPCs at the beach would be in swimwear during weekends but in business clothes during weekdays. The leaker mentioned character tags like "NPC_00172 – Beach Attire" and "NPC_00172 – Work Attire," indicating several states for one NPC. Moreover, the game will supposedly have in-game events such as concerts and conferences where masses dress in themed attire, mimicking current culture.

The post also indicated that some NPCs would be inspired by tourists from various regions of the GTA world, and their designations would refer to places such as Vespucci Beach, San Fierro, and Algonquin. The leaker also explained that Rockstar devs took inspiration from real-world YouTube channels and body cam footage of police to add environmental realism and NPC activity. Channels CharlieBo and FloridaHoodBlogs were specified as sources of references for crowd simulation and world detailing.
Despite the buzz, the leak's credibility remains unconfirmed. No major outlet has independently verified the identity or employment of the user behind the post. While the details do align with Rockstar’s reputation for immersive design, many fans and journalists have urged caution, treating the information as speculative until confirmed by the studio.
Whether such or not, the supposed leak fuels the increasing hype around GTA 6. While fans wait for Rockstar's next official statement, incidents like these give us a sneak peek, albeit speculative, of what to expect in the game's highly ambitious open world.
