Mookie Betts opened up about his ongoing health struggles
On Sunday, the LA Times released an interview with Mookie Betts in which the Los Angeles Dodgers star opened up about his ongoing struggles with sickness. Betts expressed exhaustion from being out of the time for this long, and waiting for his health to not improve. Betts started off his statement, explained:
“I just want to play. I’m tired of sitting, tired of just throwing up, tired of doing all this. I just really want to play. My body’s just kind of eating itself. It’s hard to not fuel it. And so every time — literally, every time — I fuel my body, I throw up. ... I don’t know what to do."Moving forward in his statement, Mookie Betts talked about how he has started to feel "scared to eat," considering how he has been "just throwing up" every now and then. Talking about how his condition has been "so touchy," the Dodgers star further said:
“Scared to eat. This is so touchy, man. You think you feel good, and then you don’t really know. ... Every time I eat something, it just comes right out.”Mookie Betts also addressed the fact that he has been "way underweight," and despite his eagerness to return to the field, he doesn't want to put the team at a disadvantage. Betts claimed that the team has been playing uphill, and the last thing he wants is for his inefficient performance due to bad health to affect the team's performance.
“You’re already playing uphill, I weigh 157 pounds, and that’s way underweight. ... I’m not saying I don’t want to do it. Sure, if that’s what it takes, but does it logically make sense? And that’s the question we really need to answer," Betts further added. As teams head to the full time regular season, there will develop huge expectations on Dodgers' players. How long do you think Betts will struggle with his health before making it back to the team?
